You know how some people keep things in their closets forever with tags on them? I’m quite the opposite…I like to clip off the tags and put my new things on right then and there. So the moment two pretty little JewelMint boxes arrived in the mail, I couldn’t help but throw them on together. I chose the Astoria Necklace and World’s End Earrings, and was giddy to notice after I ordered them that the necklace was recently featured in Who What Wear. {isn’t that the best little reassurance?} Lucky you, dear ‘Sequin Dress’ readers, can now receive 50% off your first JewelMint purchase with the code BOCT50.

I’m still a bit overwhelmed from all the great people/fashion/events/sights that made up my most recent trip to New York. It’s hard to get back to reality after such a fabulous getaway, but I’ve been enjoying my week at home re-living it through all the photos, an impromptu late night dinner date with the boyfriend, and playing with all the goodies I picked up in the city. For now, a few final favorite shots from NYC.

Of all the spring fashion I got a peek at during Fashion Week, the looks I most wanted to instantly right-there-on-the-spot switch outfits with were seen at the Rebecca Taylor show. There I learned that oversized sequins are in my very near future. Models hair was eerily similar to those at BCBG…straight down while totally slicked back in the front. (That…I do not see in my future). Cloud-like prints, bright yellow, and floral prints also dominated the runway. Some attendees went a bit nuts for the front row familiar faces-Whitney Port, Jordana Brewster, Sophia Bush, Louise Row, and Ashley Tisdale…a small photographer riot ensued.

Post-Rebecca Taylor I cabbed it to the Modcloth Modswap party (where I did a quick shimmy into my sequin shorts to switch out the leopard skirt) in which we were to bring a couple items from our closet to be ‘swapped’ during the event. The event was way fun, and everyone was treated to picking out a brand new Modcloth item of their own, in addition to the 2 new items you picked during the swap. While I had imagined a chaotic rush, it was surprisingly calm and everyone was more focused on meeting others, trying on clothing, and cheesing it up for the photo wall. I was elated to leave with some fabulous new (and new-to-me) items while passing along a few of my previously loved things to a new home. For some blogger-approved tips on thrift shopping, check out this video. (Close your eyes and ears for the 2nd interview…NYC was not kind to my hair!)

From the Modcloth party, a few of us girls headed straight to Pranna, for the much-anticipated Blogger Night Out event. Flowing cocktails + fabulous gift bags + 400 some bloggers = a seriously fun party. I left with some sparkly new Send the Trend earrings, a haul of the newest Zoya nail polishes, and other goodies. Congratulations and thank you to the lovely ladies who threw this incredible party!
