While in NYC last week I stopped by the Herve Leger / BCBG showroom to get a sneak peek at the hair and makeup run through before the Herve Leger show. The look was natural, pretty, and light, which kept the focus during the show on the intricate, beaded, and swingy creations that came down the runway. While it was fun to get a behind the scenes view of what goes into the final planning stages before a show, my favorite part may have been just seeing the model get all done up, while sitting there in her slippers! Proof that not even models run around in heels all the time.

I’m back from another inspiring, exhausting, and so-happy-your-stomach-almost-hurts trip to New York Fashion Week. Every time I visit NYC I leave a little piece of my heart there. The people, the ideas, the streets, the style, the pace…I can’t get enough of it. While the (not as bad as they predicted) East Coast blizzard put a small dent in some of my Friday night plans, it couldn’t keep me from wearing exactly what I wanted on Saturday to the Herve Leger show.
While each time I visit NYC I swear to use the subway more, the ease of taxis almost always wins. But this trip, thanks to Benefit Cosmetics, Uber, and my sweet friend Caroline, I was able to get from point A to B in the Beauty Rescue, a pink SUV stocked full of New York Fashion Week essentials like snacks, water, Tylenol, a phone charger, mirrors, and loads of Benefit goodies perfect for touchups. (and fun impromptu snapshots in the back!)
bcbg max azria fall 2012
I’m back from a whirlwind trip to NYC, and my brain is spinning with all the amazing, gorgeous, incredible things I saw and experienced. It will take a bit to digest it all, so for now I have to start with BCBG’s fall 2012 line, in which the runway saw loads of color blocked, geometric-shaped, paneled and midi dresses, and outerwear that was pure luxury – leather covered trenches and fur sleeved jackets. Every model had smoothed, straight, and slicked back simple ponytails. Almost every look that came down the runway was a dress (which of course I adore!) and the few looks that weren’t featured a flowy, wide leg trouser. It’s always a privilege to be invited to a show, but I felt truly honored to have a prime seat at this seasons BCBG fall 2012 line.
