Sparkly, shiny, glittering baubles always give me an extra pep in my step. When I received this dripping with rhinestones Bauble Bar glam garden bib (doesn’t even the name sound just lovely?), I thought – the only way to make it any better – would to be add even more sparkle! For being such  statement piece I’ve found myself reaching for it almost daily since receiving this gem a few weeks ago. Sometimes less is more, but when it comes to sparkle, sometimes, more is more.

I’ve been on the hunt for more structured jackets lately as I’ve come to terms with my serious dependence on my jean jackets (as evidenced here, here, and here for starters). When I spotted this striped and little poufy shouldered number on my friend Meghan while in NYC a couple weeks ago, I had to snatch one up for myself. See how she styled hers up today here. But don’t expect to see any less jean jacket action anytime soon.

I do a little bit of writing on the side for the style section of DM Juice, a local weekly publication. In one of my articles this week, I take a look at 3 traditional style rules that I believe can be broken. The first one I listed is about wearing white – and how it’s no longer true that it can only be worn after Memorial Day. I’ve always adored a great pair of white pants, but love even more how it’s widespread a-ok to wear them year round now.

Today seemed like the perfect day (with temps that are supposed to hit the 90′s!) to step out in my newest white pair of denim for a coffee and (red velvet, s’mores, and lemon cream!) donut date with a girlfriend at Creme, a local favorite cupcake, coffee, and cocktail spot.

I’ve always loved a good dark denim skinny jean, but last week I got my first pair of raw selvedge denim. While they feel a little almost unbearably tight at first in the waist, with a little commitment you get to break in a pair of jeans to perfectly form to your body. That’s pretty cool, no? I’m looking forward to this denim only getting better with age, as they stretch and mold to fit me perfectly. It’s funny how fast all my other jeans feel almost a little too cozy now. I’ve found a new favorite pair of jeans and I’m quite smitten – but I’d love to know – what’s your favorite pair of jeans and why?

I’m still in a bit of what I always call a New York hangover. It’s not like the ‘I had too many Manhattans’ kind – I just can always feel the effects of the trip a few days after I’m back home. I always squeeze in too much and this trip was no exception – a day at market, showroom stops, drinks/cupcakes/a spontaneous carousel ride with friends, checking out new shops and visiting old favorites, zipping over to the Today Show to support the sweet Maddie (of Maddie on Things!), margaritas on Cinco de Mayo, walking for miles, and stopping at every Mister Softee ice cream truck I passed. (I just can’t say no to their rainbow sprinkle dipped cones). I’m exhausted, need sleep, and indulged too much (the food! the shopping!), but I wouldn’t have a New York trip be any other way.
