I don’t need a special celebration to pull out the sequins, but for our annual holiday work party a few weeks ago, I figured there was no better time to break in my new-to-me vintage sequin maxi skirt. Since finding this gem a couple months ago it’s been hanging on my wall like a lovely piece of sparkly art, and it’s one of those pieces that I know I’ll have and adore forever. Have you ever put something on and been so excited about it that you literally jumped up and down? Because that happened with this. Some girls truly never grow out of their love for playing dress up.

a6{my NYC treat to myself – a pink silk skirt from Cynthia Rowley}

I always love hunting down new fun spots to buy unique gifts, and as a longtime fan of Uncommon Goods I was giddy when they asked me to curate a selection of my favorite gifts for one of my favorite holidays – Valentines Day. {candy hearts, everything pink and red, and an entire day just to tell those you care about how much you really do!} You can check out my picks here – and in celebration of the day of love why not treat yourself to a little something just for you?

Here, a few recent snapshots from the last week – my best NYC purchase (a pink silk skirt from Cynthia Rowley), staying warm in elbow length bow gloves, functional + darling new salt/pepper magnetic grinders, my snakeskin boots that are in heavy rotation, and a few things that made me smile last week in the Big Apple.

I’ve always loved wearing animal-themed pieces…fur vests, snake wrap bracelets, leopard heels…so this sweet little fox sweater was a welcome addition to my closet. Also, with the Fox & the Hound being a childhood favorite (although I do remember spontaneously bursting into tears the first time I finished listening to the book on tape) it seemed fitting to add a fox to my animal lineup.

I’m always in a bit of a NYC-induced daze after a few days in the city. After the hurried pace you quickly get used to, everything suddenly seems a bit slower when you return home. I’ve been trying to unwind and get back into the swing of things since returning but New York tends to have a hold over you for awhile after you leave. While I planned on snapping many more pics during my visit, the days sprinted by and my phone was the best way to capture this trip. Until we meet again sweet city.
