summer lately

{a collection of recent happenings: the most darling sign in my neighborhood, my childhood dream-come-true home in Santa Monica (pink + purple + on the beach), neon flats at the Matisse offices, hot pink + stripes for a trip to the Farmers Market, a perfect bow necklace, hundreds of shoes at Matisse, LA view from my hotel room, testing out maxis with a friend, debating a yellow denim addition to my wardrobe}

dressed in black

{top: joie, skirt: exhilaration (old – similar here), shoes: bcbg, sunglasses: spitfire, necklace: gifted glitterish ny, cuff: sorrelli}

It is a rare occasion I wear all black. I just feel more like myself in color and prints, and typically find black to be too simple for me. The only way I feel comfortable in black is if it’s a ‘fun’ thing to wear, and this old tutu skirt fit the bill last night when I was having a rare all-black clothing moment. What do you wear more of – colors or black and neutrals?

Head over to Style Within Reach today where I’m showing off my lovely city of Des Moines!

I have spent the last couple days in complete shoe heaven. I’m so excited to share a little bit about a dream-come-true project I’m working on with Matisse Footwear. While in LA I worked with their {fun + fabulous} team and couldn’t be happier with what we’ve put together. I can’t wait to show you more soon, but in the meantime here is a peek at some of the behind the scenes happenings.
