easing into fall

{2 exciting and very loaded gift cards...more info on monday!}

It’s hard to believe that October is officially here tomorrow. I’ve been easing into it with a daily hot tea (Good Hope vanilla is seriously the best-and I’ve tried a lot), painting my nails a taupey/fall color, and planning out what other pumpkin recipes to try. I’ll be kicking off the first night of October by helping backstage at a local fashion show, and I’m super excited to see some looks hit the runway that I styled from a local store. If you’re around Des Moines tomorrow night, come on out to Fashionation.

mini pumpkin cakes

I recently realized that my fur vest isn’t the only thing I crave when the weather starts to turn to fall. Anything pumpkin comes in at a close second. So when I spotted this pumpkin cupcake recipe on Pinterest the other day, I headed to the kitchen to whip them up immediately. The best part about this recipe is that it has 4 ingredients (3 if you’re like me and don’t have pumpkin pie spice on hand). One box of yellow cake mix + half a can of pumpkin + one cup of water, and you’ve got yourself some seriously delicious/easy/fast cupcakes. I ended up using a mini bundt pan because I had one, but cupcakes would bake up the same. Top with a powdered sugar + vanilla + milk glaze, and fall is officially in your kitchen.

*a mom tip I’ve always used when frosting/glazing baked goods…poke holes throughout so frosting seeps down into the cake. What’s not to love?

party pants

I’ve always been more of a dress girl than a jeans and tee shirt girl, but recently I’ve been splitting my time bouncing between the two. Much like my addiction to candy colored tights that came out of nowhere last year, I’m suddenly drawn to denim in every color but the usual. These fancy pants just beg to be shown off, just keep the top simple to contrast the party on your legs.
