I look at my house much like my closet…I love so many of the things in it, but it’s always evolving and never quite complete. While on a recent thrifting trip, I was thrilled to find a couple new accessories for my home. My finds included a vintage brass magazine holder to keep all my current issues organized, and a clear glass vase to contain and display all of my nail polish.

One week from today I take off for NYC. (I’m jumping up and down in excitement just typing this). Since it’s impossible to start the packing process too early, I started pulling out pieces I’d like to take and trying them out with different ensembles. The extended forecast looks like it will be sunny and in the 70′s, so I’m trying to pack accordingly to the weather and the season, with a little inspiration from my favorite September issues. Until then…I have some packing editing, dry cleaning, and (just a bit of) shopping to do.

{perfect afternoon snack-avocado fries}
This past weekend we headed south to enjoy one of the last real summer weekends. We stayed at a sprawling lake resort (complete with s’mores nights, dive-in movies, and an enormous lazy river) that was reminiscent of the setting in ‘Dirty Dancing,’ and had so much fun. We enjoyed a day of boating, a relaxing massage at the spa, mid-morning cocktails, and incredibly delicious food. Although I’m hoping to have many more warm weekends yet this year, it’s almost football season which means like it or not, fall is just around the corner.
